Fitting and Removing A100 Series Anemometer Rotors (R30 series rotors)
The rotors (cup assemblies) used with the A100 Series Anemometers are all fixed to the main part of the instrument using a patented gravity-sensitive fastener.

To assemble the rotor to the anemometer:
  • Hold the anemometer body in your left hand with the spindle at the top. Remove the plastic spindle protection tube (where fitted).
  • Now pick up the rotor in your right hand holding the hub (middle part) in your fingers (be careful not to bend the cups or arms as this will invalidate the calibration).
  • Slide the rotor onto the anemometer spindle, release your hold on the rotor, then press the hub (middle part of the rotor assembly) down lightly to activate the gravity catch (approx 2KgF is required).
  • Check that the rotor is securely located (press the hub again if not).

  • Removing the rotor from the anemometer:
  • Remove the anemometer from any mounting-arm to which it may be fixed.
  • Hold the anemometer upside-down and press the hub (central part of the rotor) upwards lightly (approx 2Kgf force required) and the gravity catch should release and the rotor will then slide off.

  • Note: It is advisable that fitting and removal of the rotor should be tried out before installing the anemometer to a mast.

Warning: If a anemometer is to be left without a rotor fitted for any reason (e.g. for shipping, or if left on a mast) the spindle should be protected using the slide-on plastic protection tube provided with each anemometer.

Note: The design of the catch/locking-mechanism on these rotors is protected by a number of Patents, including GB2521914B, US9404935, EP2921722.
